Position summary
Description
Oversees ship training center. Conducts general training courses including but not limited to Hospitality, Company Orientation, Ship Familiarization, Management Training, English as a Second Language (ESL). Responsible for all related record keeping.
Serves as a liaison for Crew Enrichment concerns and oversee operation of onboard Crew Enrichment Committee. Assist with onboard S.T.Y.L.E. initiatives.
In order to consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
HIS/HER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT
LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
⢠Conduct training for all generally applicable courses. Such courses include
Company Orientation, Ship Familiarization, New Supervisor/Manager Training, and
Hospitality and Service.
⢠Utilizes Adult Learning Theory to ensure retention and transfer of learning.
⢠Understands learning styles and the importance of using a variety of training
methods.
⢠Creates a positive learning environment in and outside of the training room.
⢠Understands how much practice is required to learn a new skill and the
importance of doing a task as part of learning.
⢠Learns methods from either observation or from manuals and be able to
demonstrate and teach those tasks.
⢠Learns and conducts training from a facilitator manual and utilizes prepared
resources.
⢠Understands the importance of following facilitator manual to ensure
consistent training from class to class and vessel to vessel.
⢠Develops specialized coursework with the approval and direction of Fleet
Personnel Development.
⢠Understands the feedback process and is able to provide constructive feedback
to improve performance.
⢠Provides follow-up information to assist coaching and support for management.
⢠Able to learn and utilize ship terminology.
⢠Recognizes the importance of appropriate, respectful language.
⢠Capable of using a laptop computer, LCD projector, and actual models or
objects in order to conduct training.
⢠Can troubleshoot technical issues or seek technical support in order to deliver
training.
⢠Can create a PowerPoint
presentation.
⢠Understands the importance of accuracy and maintains all training records in
the company system of records, MAPS.
⢠Ensures people attend classes as required without repetition.
⢠Coordinate use of Training Center and onboard training rooms.
⢠Sets optimum schedule for learners while guaranteeing limited impact on ship
operations and the needs of the business.
⢠Resolves schedule conflicts by negotiating with management, learner and
training services.
⢠Oversees the computer-based training library and is responsible for tracking
the use and possession of those materials.
⢠Co-Chairs ship Crew Enrichment Committee with appropriate onboard management.
⢠Understands how to create an agenda and conducts committee meetings
accordingly.
⢠Works with ship management to facilitate S.T.Y.L.E. initiatives and
recognition programs.
⢠Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the
SEMS, and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her
position
Minimum experience and qualification
requirements for position:

Two years training, teaching,
exceptional verbal and written skills in standard American English. Fluent in
MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Contract length: 26 weeks on/ 10 weeks off
Salary: 3453 $
